The Sunscreen Lotion You Need if You Suffer from Sun Allergy

Posted by Carole

Do you get itchy red rashes on the skin of your arms, chest and legs when you indulge in your first sunbathing sessions of the year? If yes, you might be suffering from sun allergy, a condition that affects one in six of us and if you’re familiar with it, you know how painful and disabling it can be! I won’t even talk about that red patchy look that ruins your décolletage…

I personally suffer from pretty bad sun allergy even if I tan easily and I’m not prone to sunburn, it started when I was about 15 years old and hasn’t stopped bothering me each spring and summer since.

Less than 30 minutes in the sun can suffice to trigger the allergy and turned me into an itchy mess, to a point my dear twinnie likes to call me “enfant lune”, which is the name given in France to the very unfortunate people suffering from xeroderma pigmentosum, a rare genetic condition that makes it dangerous for them to being exposed to sunlight (remember that horror movie with Nicole Kidman and the two kids who live in the dark?!)

I find that antihistamine tablets help to avoid major symptoms however the best protection remains limiting your exposure to the sun and applying a sunscreen that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 or above, with a broad spectrum of protection against both ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays.

These prevention tips seem quite easy to follow, only if you forget that most sunscreen lotions and sprays make your skin oily and sticky and personally make me skip the two-hours sunscreen renewal rule… or even applying a sunscreen lotion altogether. I know it’s stupid but if I tolerate a sunscreen lotion at the beach, I just can’t stand feeling like a greasy sausage when I’m out and about in the city.

Fortunately, I finally found THE body sunscreen lotion that I can wear every day, no matter what I’m up to, since it’s not oily nor sticky and get absorbed like a normal, good quality and non-sticky body moisturizer! This marvelous product is AVEENO PROTECT + HYDRATE® LOTION SUNSCREEN WITH BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 30 (also available with SPF 50 or more) and I love it because, besides not leaving my skin greasy or sticky;

  • It’s a great moisturizer and leave my skin hydrated and supple.
  • It doesn’t smell like your typical sunscreen lotion, which is a big plus for me as I don’t want to reek of monoï when I’m at work. Instead it smells of sweets and if some might find the fragrance a bit strong, I personally enjoy it a lot.
  • The price is reasonable (less than $10 for 85g)
  • I was already a big fan of their AVEENO® DAILY MOISTURIZING LOTION and used it daily when I was living in the UK where the brand is available, which brings me to my next point….

The only (and rather big) downside is that AVEENO® is only available in a limited number of markets (US | UK | Canada | Korea | Australia) plus their sunscreen product range is limited to the US, Canada and Korea only… so it’s always a struggle to stock up on their products!

Amazon remains the best option if you don’t live in one of these countries but be careful as stocks sometimes run low and shipment costs can be exaggeratedly high too!

Otherwise make your purchase during your next trip to one of these destinations or ask a good friend for a favour…

My Invisalign Journey (6 months on)

Posted by Corine.

After undergoing orthodontic treatment by wearing dreadful clear braces for over a year as a teenager, my upper front teeth started moving again during my twenties which was, let me tell you, a real bother and disappointment! I was given a retainer to wear every other night to make sure my teeth would remain aligned but the technology behind it was terrible and it was just too uncomfortable and painful to wear so I very quickly gave up on it…  and I , of course, ended up with twisted front teeth by the time I was 25! It took me another couple of years to decide to seek orthodontic treatment (once again!) and I decided to go ahead with it when I realised how much the technology had progressed the past 10 years or so and, to my relief, braces were not the only option on the market anymore!

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that helps to straighten teeth by wearing a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners that move your teeth through a series of carefully controlled movements. The aligners are replaced every two weeks. It was a perfect fit for me and the biggest selling point was that the the aligners could be removed at anytime giving me the possibility to enjoy a romantic evening or an important business meeting without an (embarrassing) orthodontic appliance! I am now half way through my treatment (6 months done and another 6 months to go) and I feel that I can give you an honest opinion on Invisalign!

Is it expensive?  The technology behind Invisalign is impressive so it is pricey! Depending on where you get your treatment, you are looking at £2,500 to £5,000 for the most complex cases. I was charged ££3,000 for the Invisalign Lite that also included a second round of treatment if the result  was not entirely satisfactory after the first six months (which is usually the case so I am glad that I went for this option!).

How long does it take? If you want to obtain satisfying results, you need to be strong-willed! Your orthodontist will advise you to wear your retainer trays for at least 22 hours a day. I personally wear mine between 18 to 20 hours a day (sometimes less!) and I have not been behind schedule so far. Having said that I have not spent one night without my retainer since I started my treatment as missing on a full night of treatment would really put me behind schedule. It is great to be able to take it out and have a little break but do not overdo it or your treatment will suffer and take way longer than expected!

Is it really invisible? Honestly, it is pretty much invisible! Only a few people have noticed my retainers since the start of my treatment. Plus most of the time they will simply notice that your teeth are a bit too shiny but they won’t figure out that you are actually undergoing orthodontic treatment!

Is it painful? I consider myself really lucky as my treatment has been pain free for the most part… of course everyone is different and some of you may strongly disagree! You do feel quite a lot of pressure when you put on a fresh aligner tray and some are worse than others and can cause pain when being removed (it feels like your teeth are being pulled out!) and some trays also cause headaches but the pain is manageable with painkillers if need be.

Is it comfortable? The first few hours are tough and you feel like you have a big piece of plastic in your mouth which is not pleasant at all! I kind of freaked out a bit at first and I remember wondering how on earth would I manage to keep the tray in my mouth for more than 10 minutes?! It takes a few days to get used to and you will probably get a sore tongue and sore gums at first but you will quickly adjust to it. Six months on and I actually feel ‘naked’ and not quite right when I am not wearing my aligner tray… who would have thought!

Is that it? Well, not quite… Some additional procedures may be required to perfect your treatment. I personally had to have attachments (or buttons) fixed on four of my side teeth which are made of tooth-colored filling material. They help the aligner trays grip individual teeth, which helps move them to their correct position. They are, of course, removed once the treatment is completed. My orthodontist also had to slenderise some of my teeth by taking off a tenth of a millimetre out of them. It sounds scary but the result is not visible to the naked eye and the procedure is pain free but, let’s be honest, a bit uncomfortable as it feels like someone is drilling a hole in your head! Having had a tooth removed during my first orthodontic treatment (that left me traumatised!), I was more than happy for him to shave my teeth and not have to go through the ordeal of tooth extraction once again!

What about hygiene? Let’s be honest here… having a piece of plastic inside your mouth for a long period of time is a bit yucky and your aligner tray stinks when you take it out after a long night sleep… it is gross and don’t even think about putting it back into your mouth before giving it a good wash! Warm soapy water and your toothbrush may not be enough so make sure to invest in some effervescent cleaning tablets – the best ones are the Retainer Brite Cleaning Tablets – your orthodontist should provide you with a box at the beginning of your treatment. If not or if you simply need a refill, they are available on Amazon for around £12 for a box of 96 tablets. I use one tablet every morning.

Drinking and eating? Water is the only thing you can put in your mouth while wearing your aligner tray… anything else will stain it and, trust me, keeping you tray clean and stain free will become an obsession! As you are supposed to brush your teeth after every meal, Invisalign will be your best friend if you are planning on shedding a few pounds.  Snacking between meal is not worth the hassle of removing your retainer, cleaning it, brushing your teeth, etc… this will help you diet greatly!

Is it worth it? As far as I am concerned it is a Big Bold Yes! My treatment is not finished yet but I am already loving my new smile and I feel much more confident with myself. So if you are not happy with your smile and you are serious about fixing it (and you are also willing to use a good chunk of your savings for it!), it is good to know that there are some discreet options out there. Invisalign has been great for me and so much more comfortable (physically and mentally) than my previous experience with braces.

Quick & Easy Marinated Salmon

Posted by Corine

OK, I really want to share with you this recipe from top French Chef, Cyril Lignac, that I make all the time because it is affordable and easy but also very fancy and trendy! So make sure to try it if you are a fan of marinated raw fish and you would like to please yourself and your guests around the dinner table. Plus it is the perfect dish for the warmer summer months… not that it feels like it in London today!

What do you need for 4 to 6 people (depending on the dish being served as a starter or a main)?

1 salmon filet (no bones, no skin) ; 4 shallots ; 4 limes ; 2 bunches of basil ; 2 tablespoons of sugar ; 2 tablespoons of salt ; 1 teaspoon of black pepper ; olive oil ; salt & pepper

How to proceed?

  1. Peel and chop the shallots. Squeeze the limes. Chop the basil. Then mix all these ingredients with the sugar, salt and pepper.
  2. Spread some of the mixture evenly in a dish. Place the salmon fillet over it and cover with the rest of the mixture. Add some olive oil. Cover and leave to rest in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  3. Drain the marinade before cutting the salmon fillet into thin slices.
  4. Use a cold dish or plates (place in freezer for a little while beforehand) to serve the salmon. Add some chopped shallots and basil on top. Drizzle some olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Tips …  Make sure to serve this dish cold!  Also try serving it with toasts to add texture and complement the dish.

Et voilà! Please give this post a thumbs-up if you can’t wait to try this recipe for yourself!

Trying the (weird) charcoal beauty trend…

Posted by Corine

Keen to understand what all the fuss is about, I have recently ordered from Amazon two very trendy charcoal beauty products… and here is my verdict!

black-maskDue to the sad state of my skin at the moment, I thought that I would be the perfect candidate to try the oh-so-trendy Cleaning anti-blackhead peel-off mask by BACC. I ordered the product from Amazon for the expensive price of £16 (!) for a 60g tube and at the time I did not realise that the product would be shipped from China… I guess there is nothing wrong with that but I am more used to my French pharmacy products and I definitely will pay more attention next time I place an order! The product itself is made from charcoal and loads of other substances whose names I cannot spell! The mask should be applied on a clean face and it is also important to properly open up your pores with a hot towel or steam prior to applying the paste on your face.  The texture is very sticky and messy and it does not feel natural at all! It also takes quite a while to completely dry (20-30 minutes). I went for a full face the first time but quickly realised my mistake and removed the paste with a wet cloth around my lips, eyes and from my eyebrows (what was I thinking?!) and I am glad I did so as the stuff is seriously sticky! Does it work? One thing for sure, it does not peel off as easily and neatly as shown on the various videos and photos we have all seen online! It actually takes a bit of effort to take it all off… and it hurts too! Once again I could not see plenty of blackheads stuck to the mask afterwards as shown on many pictures online but my skin felt clean and my pores looked really diminished so that is a big plus for this product. Will I buy again? No, I won’t! This product feels way too chemical for my liking and it is not worth the price. Next time I have £16 to spare, I will keep to what I know by buying the Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Cleansing Gel (£16.65 for 150ml on

live-cocoI also ordered the ‘Live Coco Activated Charcoal Natural Teeth Whitener’ and I could not wait to try this product to see if it actually works! It is quite expensive for what it is (£9.99) but you do get a large pot (80g) which gives you about 300 uses out of it. The product is 100% organic and non-abrasive and it is supposed to whiten your teeth by removing surface stains caused by coffee, tea or red wine without bleaching. I have now been using this product for almost a week and my main observation is that it is a messy affair! Simply opening the pot makes a bit of a mess as the fine powder kind of flies everywhere but it is nothing compared to brushing your teeth with this product… It is a real mess and I always end up with black dribble all over the sink, wall and even the furniture nearby but it is kind of fun if you want to recreate a horror movie scene! Also make sure to use a spare toothbrush as the bristles will never be white again… Does it work? My teeth definitely feel cleaner and slightly whiter but it is not a miracle product as far as I am concerned! Will I buy again? Not sure yet! I personally find this product way too messy and not practical enough to use on a daily basis but I would be happy to use it a few times a week in the shower. I am also a bit concerned about how healthy this product actually is, as even if the powder is really fine, I do find it a bit harsh on my gums so I would not recommend ditching your regular toothpaste for the sole use of activated charcoal!

Sing a Song #1

Posted by Carole

Maybe I shouldn’t admit it but for many years I very rarely listened to any French music as I much preferred artists from the Anglo-Saxon world and especially from the rocking nation that is the UK!

Of course there were a few French artists that I liked and respected but still, the French music section of my IPod remained pretty much empty for a long time… until I met my boyfriend.

When he realized that I wasn’t listening to any music from our common home-country, it was a total shock for him as he is very attached to his French heritage and therefore French music.

So he made me listen to it, no choice here, and truth be told I enjoyed it a lot and was surprisingly delighted to fall back in love with some of the classics as well as more recent tracks.

Most people know French icons like Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg or contemporary hit-makers like the Daft Punk or M83 but some beautiful songs have not travelled past the English Channel and I thought Whatever Friday was the perfect opportunity to share some tracks that, I hope, will touch your soul and make you sing along. Plus, some say that playing French music at a dinner party is utterly chic, so maybe try it next time you host at your place… and add some candles and wine for a full “Oh la la” effect.

Lyrics are particularly important for French artists, who are known for their very engaged and sometimes very political lyrics (you either like it or not!) and the song I will present to you today is no exception to that. The reason I choose it is because the lyrics resonates deep with my convictions and I cannot help but have tears in my eyes every time I listen to them.

cabrel 2

This song is “LA CORRIDA” by FRANCIS CABREL and it is about bullfighting but from the perspective of the bull… and of course it denounces the sheer non-sense and cruelty of this practice that involves in most cases the slow and painful killing of the animal.

In each verse, Francis Cabrel describes in a very poetic and metaphoric way what the bull thinks and feels as he goes through his ordeal.

In the first verse, we find the bull waiting in a dark room, wondering why he is here and why he can hear people singing and cheering outside.

I’ve been waiting in this dark room for such a long time

I hear laughs and singing

At the end of the corridor.

Somebody touched the lock

And I dived towards the bright light…

I saw brass bands, barriers

And people around.

In the second verse, the bull finds himself under the attack of the matador and quickly understands that one of them will have to die.

In the first moments, I believed

You only had to defend yourself.

But this place is a dead end,

I begin to understand.

They closed the door behind me,

They were afraid I retreat.

I certainly end up catching

This ridiculous dancer…

In the third verse, the bull remembers the beauty of his native land, Andalusia, and is still confident he can win this fight.

Andalusia, I remember:

Meadows lined with cactus…

I am not going to shiver in front of

This puppet, this loser!

I am going to catch him, him and his hat,

Make them twirl as a sun!

This evening, the wife of the torero

Will sleep on both ears.

In the fourth verse, the bull gets increasingly distressed and distraught and starts losing hope.

I have chased many ghosts,

Almost touched their ballet shoes.

They hit hard in my neck.

For me to bow.

Where do these acrobats come from

With their costumes made of paper ?

I’ve never learnt to fight

Against dolls.

In the fifth and final verse, the bull succumbs and because there are no words stronger than Cabrel’s to describe this terrible scene, I’ll let you appreciate his lyrics without further comment.

Feeling the sand under my head,

It’s crazy how it can feel good.

I prayed for it all to stop.

Andalusia, I remember…

I hear them laugh as I moan,

I see them dance as I succumb,

I didn’t think that one could have

So much fun around a grave.

The chorus is one simple and efficient question the bulls asks himself:

Is this world serious?

Finally, the song ends with a striking contrast sung in Spanish by Cabrel and Nicolas Reyes from the Gipsy Kings (famous flamenco band from France) giving a voice to the men taking part in bullfighting, who are cheering and encouraging more killings.

Yes, yes, man, man,

Dance, dance…

We have to dance again

And we will kill others

Other lives, other bulls

And we will kill others

Come, come…

Come, come dancing

Deep, isn’t it?

Some say bullfighting is cultural heritage, folklore or just a good spectacle but so were many practices like gladiator games, dog fighting, fox hunting or freak shows and still, we’ve condemned them because we realized how cruel and immoral these were so why not applying the same thinking to bullfighting? I truly don’t understand as I strongly believe that no cultural heritage can justify putting to death humans or animals for entertainment purposes.

Besides these very profound and serious lyrics that, I think, can be applied to many other situations where some people feel rightly about hurting other living beings, I hope that you will enjoy the melody and talent of Monsieur Cabrel, who is a true poet!

Here are YouTube links of the song with the lyrics in French so you can sing along as well as the song performed live.

Song with lyrics in French

Live performance:

La Corrida from Francis Cabrel was released in 1994 on the album Samedi Soir sur la Terre.

 * Translated lyrics taken from Francis Cabrel’s official website however I’ve changed a few words so you could understand the meaning better.

Floating Island… a light bite!

Posted by Corine

If you are looking for a delicious and light on the stomach pudding, this French classic dessert is the perfect way to treat your family and friends this summer. It is very easy to prepare and it requires very few ingredients which is always a plus. The dessert consists of snow eggs floating on crème anglaise, drizzled with caramel… just delicious!

What do you need for 8 people?

1 litre of semi skimmed milk ; 2 vanilla pods ; 8 eggs ; 350 g of sugar ; salt

flour, vanilla, eggs

How to proceed?

Step 1. Prepare your crème anglaise (or English cream)

  • Split the vanilla beans in half. Heat them with milk in a saucepan over a medium heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Take off the heat and remove the vanilla beans.
  • Beat the 8 egg yolks and 150 g sugar together for 5 minutes.
  • Slowly pour the hot milk mixture onto the eggs and sugar. As you do not want your eggs to start cooking, make sure to pour the milk slowly and a little at a time. Carry on whisking until smooth and creamy.
  • Return the mixture to the saucepan over a medium heat and stir continuously for 4-5 minutes or as soon as the foam disappears from the surface.

  • Pass the mixture through a sieve, leave to cool and then refrigerate.

Step 2. Prepare the snow eggs

  • Whisk 8 egg whites lightly with a pinch of salt.
  • Once the egg white is firm, pour 140 g of sugar and whisk for 1 minute.
  • Pour 5 cm of water in a large frying pan. Using two table spoons, quenelle the snow eggs and poach them in the hot water (make sure the snow eggs are not touching each other!)
  • Cook for 2 minutes, turn them over and leave to cook for another 1 minute, remove and drain gently.

Step 3. Prepare your caramel

  • Only prepare your caramel when you are ready to serve!
  • Heat 60 g sugar with 1 tsp. Water in a saucepan.
  • Let the caramel brown.
  • Remove immediately from the heat to ensure the caramel does not burn and place the saucepan on a cold surface.

Step. 4 Plate your dessert

  • Gently place your floating islands on serving bowls generously filled with the English cream and pour the caramel into thin fillets on top of them.
  • Feel free to add some roasted almonds or some dessicated coconut for some extra crunch.
  • If you have children at the table, add some cute and fun rainbow sprinkles… they will love it!

Must Try Facial Massage

Posted by Carole

Last month I came across an article about the benefits of face massages and I had a small light bulb moment!

We all agree that body massages, from a gentle rub to deep-tissue massaging, are beneficial for our body as they soothe and stimulate our muscles and joints but what about our face? We rub our skin with moisturizers and oils but never give our face muscles an actual massage and it’s a shame because our face would benefit from it as much as our body!

So for the past month I’ve been experiencing ‘face massage’ every evening as part of my beauty routine and here’s what happened:

  1. The first time:

I went through my usual cleansing routine then applied CAUDALIE VINE[ACTIV] OVERNIGHT DETOX OIL on my face and used three fingers on each hands to move across my face in small circular movements, making sure to apply a firm yet painless pressure to feel my muscles and move them. I began with my checkbones, moved up to my forefront then down my nose and jawline.

I found the all experience extremely relaxing and enjoyable, especially when I massaged parts of my face I usually don’t focus on too much like the part in between my eyes. Even if the massage lasted less than five minutes, I enjoyed taking the time to give myself some love and self-care.

The day after I didn’t notice any specific change.

  1. Two weeks in:

I keep on massaging my face for about five minutes every evening as I find the routine to be very soothing and enjoyable. However, I can’t notice any visible results and sometimes doubt I will see any.

  1. Four weeks in:

After a month of daily facial massages, I can finally notice a difference. It’s not huge nor spectacular but there is something! I’m not even sure what it is but there is a nice plumpness to my skin that is definitely new as well as a brighter skin tone. Maybe it’s not even the massage but the ‘me-time’ I indulge in every day that has this effect on my skin but whatever it is I love it and will definitely keep on face massaging!

I love it so much I’ve asked my Twinnie to try it and give us her feedback on this blog in a month time so stay tune!

I’d also love to hear about your experience so do try and let us know!

Twins Q&A!

Our birthday month is fast approaching so why not do a fun twins Q&A?! As identical twins we get asked many questions since a very young age and let’s say some of them are funny and sweet and some others are plain weird and, quite frankly, a bit silly! So if you are a twin yourself, you are expecting some little twinnies (congratulations!) or if you are just curious… keep on reading!

Who is the oldest/who came out first? This is the number one question!  The answer is one of us was born at 00:10 and the other at 00:20. No C-section, all natural… sorry Mum!

Do twins run in your family? Yes they do! We have a few set of twins on the maternal side of the family (both boy/girl and girl/girl). So I guess we have a good chance to have twins ourselves!

Can you read each other’s minds? Nope, sadly being born a twin does not give you superpowers (too bad as it would have been pretty handy during our school years!). Growing up so close to someone from day one and living the same experiences at similar moments in life makes you think and react pretty much the same way… that’s all it is! We know what the other one thinks just by staring at each other!

Have you ever swapped boyfriends? Ew… of course not, what kind of a sick question is that?! Many people ask but it is just not our thing! And we were not kind to the boys who wanted to date both of us or any of us for that matter!

Do you feel each other’s pain? No, thanks god for that! Having said that there was that one time when one of us had a (minor) car accident and the other one who was at home at the time could feel that her twin was in distress and needed rescuing even before she called for help! It was probably just a coincidence but the feeling was really strong and we are still amazed when we think about it!

Do you know who you are when you look at yourselves in the mirror? You probably think who the hell asked such a stupid question right?! Well our German teacher in High School asked us exactly that… and she was dead serious about it… we kind of lost faith in her teaching abilities after that!

Do twins have a special bond? Yes definitely! Nothing mystical or related to some strange superpowers but knowing someone else so well since birth creates a deep bond that is much stronger than brotherhood/sisterhood and most friendship. We do consider ourselves very lucky to experience it!

Who is the good twin and who is the evil twin? Ok, the person who asked that question definitely watches too much crapy TV series… or should we blame bad horror movies?! Anyway the answer is that we are, of course, both lovely girls!

What is it like to grow up with a twin? Having a twin is a lot of fun during childhood, you basically have your confident and playing buddy with you at all times! Growing up you always have someone to rely on and it made us more mature and daring to travel on our own and try new experiences and that also made our parents more trusting to let us do our own things. We can honestly say that you feel like you can conquer the world with your twin by your side!

Would you like to have twins yourselves? Hell no, it is way too much work!

What is the best part about having a twin? There are many… but the best one is probably the crazy giggling… if something is very funny to one of us, it will be very funny to the other and all it takes is one glance before we start giggling about it… and there is no stopping us!

Please like this post if you enjoyed reading about us twinnies and leave a comment if you have any questions in mind… even a silly one (we don’t mind really)! X

Velvety Chocolate Mousse

Posted by Carole

Pleasure is good for the mood and the body and we should allow ourselves to enjoy things we like on regular basis even if it’s a yummy dessert that is not necessarily good for our figure. Can you imagine a life where you only eat chia seeds, salad and an apple for desert? I personally can’t and don’t even want to! So today I’ll give you a recipe for one dreamy chocolatey dessert: a Chocolate Mousse, which has nothing to do with a buy-it-ready mousse!

Indeed, if you’re going to indulge in a dessert you’d better prepare it yourself and here’s why

  1. There will only be natural ingredients in your recipe making it a much healthier option
  2. You’ll be able to control the amount of fat and sugar in your preparation
  3. You’ll feel proud about yourself and will make your entourage happy and grateful
  4. Last but not least, your dessert will taste so much better, I guarantee you that!

I also need to add that this chocolate mousse is a very easy and quick dessert to prepare (15 minutes max), like any other recipes suggested on this blog because we’re all about enjoyment and pleasure!

Ingredients for 4 portions

  • 75 g of dark chocolate
  • 75 g of caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  1. Heat a pan on low heat and add the chocolate and 2 table spoons of water. Stir with a wooden spoon until the chocolate is melted and smooth then remove from the heat.
  2. Separate the egg yolks and egg whites and reserve.
  3. Add the egg yolks one by one to the melted chocolate and keep whisking until the preparation is smooth and velvety.
  4. In a large bowl add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whisk until they form stiff peaks.
  5. When the egg whites are very firm, add the sugar and gently blend then add the chocolate and mix carefully to keep the firmness of the whisked egg whites intact.
  6. Place in the refrigerator before eating as the mousse is best served cold!

Tip: Use a syphon to give a cloud-like texture to your mousse or serve as is if you enjoy your mousse creamy and unctuous.

Tip 2: Add half of shot of expresso to your preparation to enhance the chocolatey flavor or the zest of an orange for a fruity kick!

Mandatory Sunday Beauty Rituals

Posted by Carole

Sunday mornings are synonym with late lie-in and croissants for me but also pampering sessions as I never miss the occasion to take care of myself and indulge in a bit of “me time”.

I can actually spend a couple of hours in my bathroom enjoying a warm bath, exfoliating or painting my nails, my routine varies however there are two beauty rituals that are always on my list and they are both masks, one for my face and one for my hair.

So today I wanted to share with you the mandatory beauty rituals I cannot live without!

This is maybe my favourite beauty product as it never fails to give incredible results! This product is PHYTOELIXIR OIL by PHYTO, an intense nutrition oil that deeply nourishes my hair and leaves them incredibly smooth and luscious.

Phyto 123.pngMy secret is to apply the elixir on the tips and length of my hair as soon as I wake up, tie my hair in a bun as it makes them quite greasy and leave on for a few hours, basically all morning as I roam in my PJ’s having breakfast and lazing around!

Phyto recommends to leave on for 10 minutes only before washing off but I can assure you that the longer the better the results will be so don’t be afraid to spend your morning with slightly oily hair, it’s totally worth it!

The price of £26.50 might seem quite pricey but a bottle of 75ml lasts me 6 months or more, not bad considering the amazing results.

I am a big fan of DECLEOR’s products including their facial masks! There are two masks I really like and alternatively apply on my face once a week.

Decleor 1

The first one is AROMA PURETE PURIFYING & EXFOLIATING MASK, an Ylang-Ylang essential oil treatment with deeply purifying, mattifying and rebalancing properties, ideal for oily skin types. The clay includes tiny particles allowing you to exfoliate by applying gentle circular movements to your skin before rinsing your face off.

The second one is AROMA CLEANSE CLAY AND HERBAL MASK, a creamy purifying white clay treatment packed with camomille and ginseng essential oils to soothe the skin and boost its elasticity.

Both masks give great results and leave my skin replenished with a clearer, brighter skin tone and a nice plumpness. The smell and texture of the white clay mask are also exquisite and it doesn’t leave my skin dry like most clay masks I’ve tried.

The only downside is their price, £25 and £28.50 respectively for 50ml so I usually wait for sales or promotions to buy these masks.
